Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 17, 2026

Welcome to Skinalyze AI ("Skinalyze AI", "we", "our", or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use the Skinalyze AI mobile application ("App").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you use the App you may provide us with:

  • Skin profile data, age range, skin type, sensitivity level, skin concerns, and skin-after-washing preference. Stored locally on your device.
  • Photos, selfies for skin analysis, close-up images of skin spots, and photos of product labels. Photos are sent to our AI provider solely to generate your report and are not stored on our servers.
  • Report history, text reports and thumbnail images saved locally on your device in the app's private document directory.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

We may collect limited technical data to maintain and improve the App, including:

  • Device type and iOS version
  • Crash logs and error reports (via Apple's built-in crash reporting)
  • Anonymous usage statistics (feature usage counts, session length), no personal identifiers are attached

1.3 Purchase Information

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We receive only a confirmation of purchase status from Apple's StoreKit framework.

1.4 Notifications

If you enable reminders, we store your preferred reminder time and day locally on your device. Notification delivery is handled by Apple's Push Notification service. We do not collect notification interaction data.

1.5 Photo and Skin Image Data

When you use the skin analysis feature, you take a photo using your device camera. This photo is transmitted to OpenAI's API (ChatGPT) solely to generate your skin analysis report. We do not store, retain, or share your photo on any intermediate servers. The image exists only in memory during the API call and is discarded immediately after the response is received. All generated reports are saved locally on your device only. No facial recognition or biometric processing is performed, the image is analysed as a general skin image only.

  • Collection: Photo taken via device camera at the moment of analysis
  • Use: Transmitted once to OpenAI's API to generate your skin report
  • Storage: Not stored on our servers or any intermediate servers. Generated reports with thumbnails are saved locally on your device only
  • Sharing: Shared only with OpenAI's API for inference. Not shared with any other third party
  • Retention: Zero retention on our side. The photo is discarded immediately after the API response is received. Reports are retained on your device until you delete them

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To generate personalised skin analysis reports, spot assessments, and product ingredient reviews
  • To display your report history within the App
  • To personalise AI prompts based on your skin profile (this data stays on your device and is only included in API requests when you initiate an analysis)
  • To send local notification reminders at your chosen schedule
  • To diagnose and fix crashes and technical issues
  • To improve the App's features and performance

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 AI Analysis Provider

When you request a skin, spot, or product analysis, your photo and relevant skin profile context are transmitted to OpenAI (gpt-4.1 model) via their API for the sole purpose of generating your report. OpenAI processes this data under their own Privacy Policy. We do not permit OpenAI to use your data to train their models, we use the API with data-usage restrictions enabled.

3.2 Apple

The App runs on Apple's iOS platform. Apple may collect certain device and usage data per their Privacy Policy.

3.3 No Sale of Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

4. Data Storage and Security

Most of your data, skin profile answers, report history, and saved images, is stored locally on your device in the App's private sandbox. This data is protected by iOS's built-in encryption when the device is locked.

Photos sent for AI analysis are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. We do not retain copies of your photos on our servers after the analysis response is returned.

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

Report history is stored locally on your device and retained until you delete individual reports within the App or uninstall the App. The App automatically limits history to the 20 most recent reports per category.

Skin profile data stored in UserDefaults is retained until you clear it in Settings or uninstall the App.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@getskinalyze.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access, request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Deletion, request deletion of your data. Since most data is stored locally, you can delete it directly in the App or by uninstalling it
  • Correction, update your skin profile at any time in the App's Settings
  • Portability, export your data where technically feasible
  • Objection, object to processing in certain circumstances

To exercise any right, contact us at support@getskinalyze.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. International Data Transfers

If you are located outside the United States, your photo and skin context data will be transmitted to OpenAI's servers, which may be located in the United States or other countries. By using the App, you consent to this transfer. We rely on OpenAI's data processing agreements to ensure appropriate safeguards.

9. Website Analytics and Cookies

Our website (getskinalyze.com) uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand anonymous, aggregated visitor traffic. Vercel Analytics is privacy-friendly by design:

  • No cookies are placed on your device by our analytics

10. Medical Disclaimer
