This policy explains what Skinalyze AI ("we", "our", "us") collects, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed. It covers the website at getskinalyze.com and the skin analysis service we provide through it.
Skinalyze AI used to be an iPhone app. It is now a web service. If you used the app, see section 11.
1. What we collect
1.1 Things you type in
- Your email address, if you ask to be told when the web analysis opens, or when you create an account. We use an email address as your sign-in: there is no password.
- Your answers about your skin, such as age range, skin type, sensitivity and what you want to work on. These shape the analysis. You choose what to answer.
1.2 Photographs
To analyse your skin we need a photograph. When you submit one, it is sent to our processing provider, read by the model, and the resulting text comes back to you.
- We do not store your photograph. It is not written to our database and not kept on our servers after the response.
- Our processing provider receives the image in order to read it, and may hold it briefly under its own abuse-monitoring policy. We do not control that period.
- The written result of an analysis is stored only if you are signed in and we save it to your account, so that you can see how your skin changes. You can delete it.
1.3 Things collected automatically
- An account identifier that ties your requests together.
- Your IP address, recorded with each request.
- A record of each request: what kind it was, when it happened, and whether it was allowed or refused.
- Counters: how many analyses you have run today, whether your free one is used, and whether you have a paid plan.
We keep these because each analysis costs us money to run. Without them we cannot tell one person from another, cannot honour a free analysis, and cannot stop one person from running thousands. We do not use them to build a profile of you for advertising.
2. Why we use it
- To produce the analysis you asked for.
- To recognise you when you sign in, and to show you your own past results.
- To apply free and paid limits fairly, and to detect abuse.
- To email you what you asked for: your sign-in code, or word that the service has opened.
- To understand which pages people find useful, in aggregate.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not email you marketing you did not ask for.
3. Who else sees it
We use a small number of companies to run the service. Each sees only what it needs.
- Our AI processing provider receives the photograph and your skin answers in order to produce the analysis. It does not receive your email address.
- Our database and hosting providers store your account record and serve the website.
- Our email provider receives your email address in order to deliver sign-in codes and the messages you asked for.
- Our payment provider, if you pay, receives your payment details directly. We never see or store your card number.
- Vercel Analytics measures page visits. It does not use cookies and does not follow you between websites.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We will not hand over your data to anyone else.
4. Where it is kept, and for how long
- Photographs: not kept.
- Account record and saved analyses: kept while your account exists, and removed when you delete it.
- Request records, including IP addresses: kept up to 24 months, so we can investigate abuse and errors.
- Waitlist emails: kept until the service opens and we have told you, or until you ask us to remove yours.
Data is held on servers operated by our providers, which may be outside your country. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on our providers' standard contractual safeguards.
5. Your rights
Whatever country you are in, you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you,
- correct it,
- delete it, including your account and everything attached to it,
- stop emailing you.
Write to support@getskinalyze.com from the address you signed up with. We will act within 30 days. If you are in the EU or the UK, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
6. Children
Skinalyze AI is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
7. Cookies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you sign in, we set one cookie to keep you signed in. Our analytics measures visits without cookies.
8. This is not medical advice
Skinalyze AI is an educational tool. It does not diagnose, treat or cure anything, it is not a medical device, and it does not replace a dermatologist. If something on your skin worries you, see a qualified doctor. Never delay medical advice because of something you read here.
9. Security
Connections to the site are encrypted. Access to the database is restricted to the service itself. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise, but we hold as little about you as the service allows: no photographs, no card numbers, no password.
10. Payments
The first analysis is free. Paid plans, when available, are handled by our payment provider, which processes your card directly. We receive only the fact that a payment succeeded and what it entitles you to.
11. If you used the iPhone app
The Skinalyze AI iPhone app is no longer available, and the service now runs on the web. Two things follow from that.
- Anything the app kept on your phone, including saved reports, stays on your phone and is outside our reach. Deleting the app removes it.
- The operational record our servers kept for the app, a device identifier with request counts and IP addresses, still exists. It contains no name, no email address and no photographs. Write to us and we will delete it.
Purchases made through the App Store were handled by Apple, and any refund or subscription question about them remains with Apple.
12. Changes
When the web analysis opens, and whenever else what we do changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be emailed to account holders.
